Have you ever been more ready to end a calendar year?
In our world of customer care, empathy has always been the cornerstone, the key to happy customers and happy clients. When 2020 came along and turned the world upside down, empathy became simply priceless.
Impacted by the pandemic, unemployment, health issues, wildfires, lockdowns, and endless other challenges, customers needed a point of human connection more than ever before. As people around the world experienced their darkest days, we saw the need to respond with greater patience and understanding.
We are beyond grateful for the compassion of our agents and the flexibility of our clients as we sought to deliver that connection. As we enter 2021 and hopefully begin to see a return to some level of normalcy, it is our goal to preserve this year’s lessons in what it means to be human.
We’re also incredibly thankful for thought leaders out there helping businesses pivot. Below are a handful who are doing great things and work hard to inspire others.
Laurie is an HR-focused writer and speaker. She’s all about “creating workplaces that support, empower, and engage.” With a recent book and regular blog posts, she’s definitely someone to pay attention to in the business world. Also, check out her Punk Rock HR Podcast for some amazing conversations with leaders, celebrities, politicians, and HR folks. Thank you for inspiring us this year, Laurie!
We’re long-time fans of Shep, a customer service guru. He shares of a wealth of expertise and insight on his blog and podcasts. His style is fun(ny), approachable, and high-value, so we highly recommend checking out his website for regular advice.
Bozoma Saint John is a force to be reckoned with. In the middle of the pandemic, she made her most recent career move as Netflix’s Chief Marketing Officer (with many other prominent positions behind her—think Uber and Apple). She’s an inspiration to many and recently signed on to lead a Harvard Business School workshop titled “Anatomy of a Badass,” in an effort to “impart her hard-earned lessons to a new generation of business leaders.”
Simon Sinek is a self-described “unshakable optimist”—and offers the dose of optimism we all need in a year like 2020.
